Description: We are so casual today, and so committed to inclusiveness, that people are reluctant to set limits on one another. No one wants to be authoritarian or arbitrary. The result is that group discussions sometimes go on too long, wander all around the subject, don't give everyone a chance to speak, fail to come to a conclusion, or feel like a waste of time. Paradoxically, in seeking to be fair, an unfair situation can be created.
If a group agrees to some simple rules, and if the group leader is willing and able to enforce them, discussion will go much better. This paper provides those rules.
